NexGard Chews contain afoxolaner as the active ingredient, which is a part of the isoxazoline family. After administration, the active component (afoxolaner) is absorbed into the dog’s bloodstream. When fleas and/or ticks bite the treated dog, they ingest this compound. The formula causes hyperexcitation in fleas and ticks and overstimulates their nervous system, resulting in paralysis and death of these parasites.

These chews start killing fleas four hours after your dog ingests them. NexGard provides more than 99% efficacy at eight hours and delivers high efficacy against adult fleas 24 hours after flea infestation. According to laboratory studies, this flea & tick treatment provided more than 90% effectiveness against various tick species at 72 hours after tick infestations.
