How NexGard Spectra Works? (Veterinary Overview)
NexGard Spectra combines two proven active ingredients:
- Afoxolaner – targets fleas, ticks, mites, and mange
- Milbemycin oxime – targets heartworms and intestinal worms
After oral administration, these actives are absorbed into the dog’s system. When parasites feed or are exposed, the ingredients overstimulate the parasites’ nervous system, leading to paralysis and death while remaining safe for the dog when used as directed.
- Fleas begin to die within 6–8 hours
- More than 95% efficacy against ticks for up to one month
